Dorothy Cynthia Minx was born October 29, 1917 and went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 17, 2012. Born in Mount Joy, PA she was the daughter of William S. Longenecker and Barbara Wolgemuth Longenecker. She had 10 brothers and sisters. Dorothy accepted Jesus as her personal savior when she was 11 years old. After graduation from high school Dorothy entered nurse's training through St. Joseph's Hospital in Lancaster, PA. After becoming an RN she traveled to Miami, FL, back to PA, and then to Pasadena, CA practicing her nursing skills. While in CA, Pearl Harbor was attacked. Nine months in to the war she joined the Army Nurse Corp and served her country for 3 years. She was stationed in Santa Barbara for a year. From there she went to Panama, CA and then to Atlantic City before being shipped to Winchester. England. Following her discharge she worked as a nurse at the VA Hospital in Waco, TX before transferring to the VA Hospital in McKinney, TX. It was there that she met Lewis Minx and they were married on Dec 15, 1946. They soon settled in Dallas, TX. She stopped nursing to raise her family and eventually worked again as an RN for 12 years at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. Following the death of Lewis in 1979, Dorothy volunteered through the Foreign Mission Board and served as a nurse in Israel for 2 years. She was an active member of Urban Park Baptist Church, Bethany Baptist Church, and First Baptist Sunnyvale. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis E Minx and her granddaughter Michelle Thomas. She is survived by four children: Louie Minx and wife Kathy of Duncanille, TX; Johnny Minx and wife Rosa of Mesquite, TX; Jerry Minx and wife Jan of Rowlett, TX; Barbara Aldridge and husband Jim of Rowlett, TX; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Ethel Shelly of Manheim, PA, brother William W Longenecker and sister Verdella Spickler both of Mount Joy, PA.
