He established himself as a star player and was among the pioneers who gave the National Basketball Association credibility, during the early years of the league's existence. For ten seasons (1947 to 1956), he played at the point guard and shooting guard positions in the National Basketball League and the National Basketball Association with the Anderson Packers, Tri-Cities Blackhawks and Fort Wayne Pistons. He made his initial impression on the basketball court at Zachary High School in Louisiana and continued his athletic excellence at Louisiana State University. He achieved All-Southeastern Conference honors in 1943 and following service with the United States Army during World War II, he resumed his collegiate studies and earned All-Southeastern Conference status again in 1947. Brian signed with the Anderson Packers of the NBL and received Rookie of the Year honors in 1948. He experienced a championship season with the Packers, when they captured the NBL title in 1949. He was a member of the team, when they moved on to the NBA for the 1949-1950 season. He was acquired by the Chicago Stags, however he did not play for them as the team was about to fold. He ended up with the Tri-Cities Blackhawks and achieved all star status in 1951, as he produced a career-high 1,144 points. In 1952, he achieved all status again; this time while in a Pistons' uniform. Brian was a contributor to the Fort Wayne Pistons' reaching of the NBA Finals in 1955 and 1956. In 438 career regular season games, he compiled 5,379 points. He was inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 1986 and was enshrined into the LSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2013.
