Funeral of Private Willis Thomas Brooks Held at Late Home

The funeral of Private Willis Thomas Brooks, who died at Camp Devens Oct 10 of pneumonia following Spanish influenza, was held at his late home Monday afternoon.

The Rev William Shaw of St Albans officating.

Burial was at the West Plains.

The bearers were Sergt. Bundy of Camp Devens, Arthur Rice of Highgate William Rankin and Floyd Brooks, a brother.

A firing squad from Co E., VVM acted as an escort and fired a volley over the grave.

Those who attended from out of town were Edward Rice and sons, Arthur and Willis of Highgate, Mr and Mrs Rice and family of Sheldon Springs, Mr and Mrs Gates Brooks and family of Milton and Miss Eleanor Watson of Lowell Mass.

The floral offerings were varied and beautiful.

Private Brooks was a member of Company A 1919th Field Signal Battalion.
