It was just up the road from Walter Overbys place. Never drove a car or tractor in his life . Had a work horse and did everything else by hand . Like so many his age James was hard working and put family first. Maggie his wife said that he was a good shine maker but he quit when Zelma [his daughter ]was born. James and Maggie were married 17 Nov 1921 in mecklenburg county Va
