Her funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bloomington, with the Rev. Gregory Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s School. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marion was born Feb. 23, 1926, in Chicago, the daughter of Frank Lux and Margaret Loeffler Lux. She married Joseph F. Heissler IV on Aug. 23, 1947, in Chicago. He died March 6, 2006.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph (fiancée, Gina Stewart) Heissler, Pittstown, N.J., and Steven (Cathy) Heissler, Normal; daughter-in-law, Sandy Heissler, Normal; a brother, Frank (Anne Marie) Lux, Annapolis, Md.; grandchildren, Jason (Donna Gerig) Heissler, Jaime Heissler, Lauren Heissler (Boris) Todorova, Drew Heissler, Adam (Kelly) Heissler, Abby Heissler, Liz (Traye) Nevius, and Amie Heissler; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and brothers, Matthew, Peter, and John.
Marion graduated from St. Alphonsus High School in Chicago in 1942, where she was active in choir and drama. She had retired from secretarial work for various construction and property management companies, and was a devoted mother and homemaker during her sons’ childhood. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She donated many hours in service to Epiphany Parish and grade school and the Normal Knights of Columbus. She and her husband loved to dance. They spent many summer vacations camping in Door County, Wis.
