Jean Hyde, a lifelong resident of Hamilton County, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 peacefully at her home in Ooltewah, Tennessee. She attended Chattanooga State Community College and enjoyed working most of her life before retiring in 2000 with First Alternative Counseling. Jean also served as a substitute teacher throughout her son’s school years and was loved by all students and faculty. She and her husband Curtis enjoyed trips to their condo in Florida during their retirement years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Essie Abbott; brother, Richard Abbott and sister Shirley Potts.
Jean is survived by her husband, Curtis H. Hyde; son, Curtis Hyde Jr.; grandson, Trey Hyde; sister, Toney Denton; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at noon at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East with Reverend Tony Dodd presiding over the service. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
