DEATH OF MRS. BERGE, VALDERS, TAKES PIONEER

Mrs. Ole Berge, well known resident of Valders, died early today at her home there as result of a stroke of paralysis which she suffered two months ago.

The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the home and at 2 o'clock at the Valders church, the Rev. White officiating.

Mrs. Berge was one of the early day settlers of Manitowoc county, having come here in the 50's. She was born at Valders, Norway and was married after her arrival here, on January 31, 1866 to Mr. Berge who preceded her in death in 1910. She had made her home at Valders ever since coming to America.

Mrs. Berge was the mother of six children; Mrs. John Alfson of Clarks Mills; Anton and Andrew of Valders and Gustave Berge of Omaha, Nebraska. Twenty-six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive.

Berge Funeral to Be Held Tomorrow

The funeral of the late Mrs. Berge, pioneer resident of Valders, will be held tomorrow afternoon from the home at 1:30 and from the Valders church at 2 o'clock.

Mrs. B. Finkleson, of this city, a daughter whose name was omitted from the obituary yesterday, is at Valders.

Mrs. Berge was the mother of Ole Berge, deceased, who for many years was one of the most prominent business men of Valders.

Notes From Valders:
Mrs. Ole Berge, one of the old settlers of Liberty died Thursday morning last week. Her death was due to paralysis.

Mrs. Berge, nee Berit Veblin, was born Sept. 1, 1831 at Valders, Norway. She came to America and Manitowoc in the early fifties. She was later married to Ole Berge on Jan. 31, 1856. Mr. and Mrs. Berge settled on a farm in the town of Liberty, where she has since resided. Her husband died eleven years ago.

Mrs. Berge is survived by three sons and two daughters. They are, Anton and Andrew Berge of Valders, Mrs. K. Finkelson of Manitowoc, Mrs. John Alfson of Clarks Mills, and Gustave Berge of Omaha, Neb. One son, Ole Jr., died Jan. 15, 1913.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon from the Norwegian Lutheran church at Valders. Rev. A. O. White officiated.
