Jim was a Special Agent with the FBI.

ABBOTT, James Abbott, James Addison.
Jim passed away on May 19, 2017, after a short illness. Jim graced his family and friends with his wit, strength, insight and protection for 89 years. The quintessential FBI Special Agent, Jim started his career with the Bureau in Buffalo, NY working nights as a clerk while finishing school and providing for a wife and child. After completing his service to our country, honorably separating from service as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Jim returned to the ranks of the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent moving his growing family to Ohio, Illinois, Mississippi, Virginia, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Alabama before finishing his career as the Special Agent in Charge of the Dallas, Texas office of the FBI. Post retirement, Jim was a private investigator which led him and his long time partner, Ann Dodge, to serve the community of former FBI agents in private practice by forming a network directory-Trapline IV. Jim was an extraordinary mentor, marksman and master storyteller. Jim instilled in his family an unwavering duty to honor the Unites States of America and always fulfill the FBI Motto of Fidelity, Bravery, Integrity. Jim's wife of 48 years, Marguerite (Peggy) Hutchcraft Abbott, predeceased him in 2000. Jim is survived by his loving grandchildren, his three children and spouses, and Ann. We all know he is in a better place but would give anything for a few more moments with him. Services will be held on June 2, 2017, at 1:30 pm at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. In lieu of flowers, honorariums for Jim can be made to the Former Agents of the FBI Foundation, the Hamburg Volunteer Fire Department of Hamburg, New York or a charity of your choosing.
