James Curtis Howard age 68 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at his home. He was born March 26, 1949 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late Thomas Walker and Ethel Mae Shepherd Howard. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sue Dell Manns Howard. Survivors include the mothers' of his children, Sandra Kay Risner Howard Perkins, and Frances Howard Skaggs, four daughters, Jimalee Howard Ross of Ezel, Kentucky, Michele Howard Flynn of Germantown, Tennessee, Joanna Marie Howard of Louisville, Kentucky, and Vickie Wright Cole of Salyersville, Kentucky, one brother, Byron Richard Howard of Salyersville, Kentucky, and one sister, Rita "Suzy" Helton of Salyersville, Kentucky. Seven grandchildren, Curtis Howard, and Dylan Patrick, whom he raised, also Kaden Allen Ross, Jase Thomas Ross, Drew Dean Flynn, Jarah Michele Flynn, and Justin Cole, one great grandson, Cayden Ray Howard, along with a host of stepchildren, and step grandchildren also survive. In addition to his wife and parents, Jim is preceded in death by one brother, Walter Joe Howard, and one sister, Donna Marie Howard. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Sunday, May 28, 2017 from the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel with Ron Thacker officiating. Burial will follow in the Bluegrass Cemetery at Salyersville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the funeral home after 4 pm Saturday, May 27, 2017, and anytime Sunday prior to funeral services.
