BLUEFIELD, Va. – Harold Lloyd Dancy, Sr., 73, of Route 1, Box 319-E, Bluefield, Va. (Abbs Valley), died Sunday, August 2, 1998, at Tazewell Community Hospital.
Born 09 Mar 1925 in Newhall, he was the son of the late John Calvin and Bertha Dillon Dancy.
He was formerly employed by the Pocahontas Fuel Co. at Jenkinjones. He was a retired motorman for U.S. Steel Mine No. 14 and had 30 years of service in the mining industry. He was a member of the Local Union No. 6025 of Bishop and was of the Christian faith.
He as preceded in death by three brothers and two grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, India Lucille Dancy of the home; son Harold Lloyd Dancy, Jr. and his wife Ella Mae, of Belews, Creek, N.C.; daughter, Debbie Boone and her husband Michael, of Abbs Valley, Va.; one sister, Mary Sudduth of Bluefield; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, at the Rodriguez Pocahontas Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Frank Stanley, Gus Anderson and Johnny Elmore officiating.
Burial will follow at the Grandview Memory Gardens on Bluefield-Tazewell Road.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Boone, Don Boone, Eddie Boone, J.W. Dillon, Melvin Simons and Walter Harmon.
