Kathleen “Kathy” Seaman, 71, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 24, 2017 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
Born May 20, 1946 in Winfield, she was the daughter of Paul and Verl Maxine (Workman) Cadwell. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1964. While in school, she was very active in 4-H. After high school, Kathy attended St. John’s College, graduating in 1966 with an Associate’s Degree in Business. Following school, she moved to Boulder, Colorado with friends and began working for a real estate development company. While in Boulder, she reunited with Ken Seaman who was on a family ski vacation.
Kathy was united in marriage to Ken Seaman on November 5, 1977 at the First Presbyterian Church in Winfield. The couple made their home in Wichita where Kathy worked as an accountant at Cessna Citation. Kathy became a homemaker after the couple’s two children were born as well as working part-time as a nail care consultant for Amera. In addition to being an avid reader, she enjoyed volunteering in her children’s activities, teaching preschool, volunteering with the Wichita Wind Ensemble, and received several awards as a volunteer at Northwest High School. Her lifelong focus was her children and later, her grandchildren.
Her family includes: Her husband: Ken Seaman of Wichita; Her son: Kevin Seaman and wife, Tiffany of Olathe; Her daughter: Kendra Seaman of New Haven, CT; Her sister: Jennifer Brothers and husband, John of Burden; Her mother-in-law: Barbara Seaman of Udall; Her sister-in-law: Diana Klein of Winfield; and Her grandchildren: Adelyn, Eleanor and Noah Seaman of Olathe.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kamela and her step father, Paul Wesley.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Udall United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Udall Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Friday evening from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.
Memorials have been established in Kathy’s name for the American Alzheimer’s Association and the Kansas Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
