Gloria Ashby Perry, 82, of Martinsville, Va. passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born February 1, 1935 in Henry County to the late Reverend George F. Ashby and Mary A. Shaffer.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John B. Perry, and son, John David Perry.

Surviving is one son, Stephen (Kim) Perry, of Bassett; one brother, Donald Ashby of Ridgeway; three sisters, Martha (J.D.) Cox of Ridgeway, Susan Cobbler of Martinsville, and Jane (Kennon) Draper of Collinsville; three grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Gloria was an avid cross-stitcher and loved to sew. In addition to sewing, she loved to bake and was well known for her pound cakes.

A visitation will be held for Gloria at Collins Funeral Home on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. Her funeral service will be Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Dan Schelling officiating. A private graveside will be held at the convenience of the family.
