A handsome doctor, Dr. Olif D. Hoffman, moved to Driggs, and they were married in 1940. They later moved to Rexburg, Idaho. She spent many years as his bookkeeper, and together they enjoyed helping the people of their communities. She loved being involved in the Idaho Medical Association when O served as president and had many special relationships with the Idaho medical community.
Lois and O's only son, Jack, preceded them both in death in 1960 in a car accident. Then, after Lois spent many years as his caregiver while he battled cancer, O passed away in 1972. Lois was strong in adversity and lived as a widow for 45 years.
Throughout her life, Lois was a faithful and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved her Relief Society friends and served in many ward callings. Education was probably one of the most important things to Lois. She traveled the world with her siblings, but the highlights of her later years were attending games, concerts and events that her grandchildren participated in.
She is survived by her three daughters, Margaret Ann Walz (Ryan), Patricia Lee Heitmann (Don), and Kathryn Marie Nyborg (Mike); her sister LouJean Tingey; 10 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Lois lived a long, full life. She was a beautiful mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and "old grandma" to her great-grandchildren. After 57 years away from her son and 45 years apart from her husband, we are happy for their eternal reunion. We will miss her deeply.
Interment will be at the Sugar City Cemetery in Sugar City, Idaho, following a graveside service at 4 p.m.
