After marriage, the couple lived in Denver and Grand Junction, Colo.; Newton; Great Bend; Otis; Amarillo, Texas; and then settled in Lakewood, Colo., where she worked at the Jefferson County Library. Mrs. Burfield moved back to Great Bend in 2007.
Mrs. Burfield was a member of Central Baptist Church, Great Bend.
Survivors include two sons, Brent Ernest Burfield and his wife Margaret of Miami, Fla., and the Rev. Bruce Arlan Burfield and his wife Keli of Belleville; one daughter, Andrea Kay Nelson and her husband Delbert of Great Bend; two sisters, Erma M. Shoopman of Midland, Texas, and Eileen B. Bayer of Radium; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, Marvin Leonard Burfield; one brother, Claude E. Irvin; and one sister, Norma L. Koch.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 2, at Central Baptist Church in Great Bend, with Pastor David Walters and Pastor John Grummon. Inurnment will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 5, in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colo. Memorials have been established with Central Baptist Church or Ellinwood District Hospital, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
