Lawrence Wendell Bowen passed away without pain Feb. 16, 2007. Larry was born Sept. 26, 1919, in Newton, Iowa, to Lloyd and Bertha Bowen with four sisters, now deceased. T/Sgt. Bowen was a radio operator and gunner on B-25s in the China, Indo-China, Burma theatre of war in WW II. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for Òextraordinary achievementÓ in completing over 50 combat missions. He received many other medals for his accomplishments. Larry met his future wife, Glenda Irene Tadlock, through his sisters in Pasadena, Calif., where she was working for McDonald Douglas Aircraft for the war effort. They married July 6, 1944 in Newton, Iowa. Lawrence retired from the U.S. Postal Service. During his retirement, he traveled with his wife and son on their sailboat, Saga, up and down the Atlantic coast and through the Caribbean Islands for two years. Larry and Glenda traveled around the United States for 17 years. in their RV. They enjoyed several trips to Europe. He especially loved Wales and Ireland, the places his family immigrated from. Lawrence was an avid gardener and bird feeder. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Glenda, two children, Randy Bowen and Sandee Boyce. Sandee has two children, Richelle (Don) Wilkins and their children, Matthew and Samuel and Nicole (Tim) Hostetler and their four children, Jennaca, Jannae, J.T. and Joshua. Larry was a hard working, honest, and kind-hearted man who loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren dearly. Larry loved the Lord Jesus very much and often prayed quietly to Him as was his way. Lawrence was loved very much and will be missed, but is in a more peaceful and serene place as this is being written. Anyone who knew him will miss him. We love you Dad and Papa. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Parkes Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, Idaho, Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. at Twin Falls Cemetery.
