Chicago Heights Pilot is Killed in Georgia Crash
Air Force Captain Alan J. Provost, 27, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest J. Provost, 291 W. 10th st., Chicago Heights, was one of two men killed yesterday in the crash of a T-37 jet trainer near Moody Air Force base, Ga.
A spokesman at the base said Provost, who was an instructor, and a student, Capt. Frederic V. Digiacomo, 25, of Staten Island, N. Y., were coming in for a landing at Spence field, near the base, when their craft crashed a half-mile from the runway.
Provost entered the air force in 1953 after his graduation from Purdue university. He and his wife, the former Caroline Bartusiewicz of 218 E. 22d st., Chicago Heights, were graduated from the Bloom Township High school. In addition to his parents and widow, Provost is survived by three children—Brian, 4; Robert, 3; and Deborah, 1; and a sister Mrs. Jerilynn Ann Vayda.
