Lena Nelson 1877-1961

Mrs. Lena (Thor) Nelson, a pioneer resident of the Bagley and Clearbrook communities, died at Bethesida Hospital at Crookston on Monday evening, June 5, at 6 o'clock.
Born at Gudbransdalen, Norway, October 4, 1877, she came to the United States at the age of eleven years. She was married to Thor O. Nelson in June of 1900, at Crookston. They lived at Bagley for a time when Mr. Nelson operated a livery stable located near where the liquor store is now located. They lived in the home now owned by Clarence Knutson. In the very early 1900's they moved to Clearbrook where Mr. Nelson was a pioneer merchant. They continued to make their home there until Mr. Nelson's death and then Mrs. Nelson left the area to make her home with a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Brown at the Northwest School of Agriculture, Crookston.
Surviving Mrs. Nelson are ethree children: Mrs. Myrtle Brown of Crookston; Ann Burlson of Northville, Michigan; and son Lloyd of St. Paul. Also among the survivors are two grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at First Lutheran Church of Clearbrook of which she was a charter member. The last rites are set for today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Edwin Livingston officiating. Burial will be made in Silver Creek Cemetery.
