Wayne County Outlook
30 Apr 1942

On Saturday April 18, 1942, the death Angel visited our home and called for its own, our husband and father, A. M. Burton. He was 85 years old and was married to Abbie Vie Upchurch on June 24, 1879 and to this union 15 children were born, 14 now living. Nine were at his bedside when death came.

He also leaves beside his wife and 14 children, 89 grandchildren
41 great grandchildren and a great many friends to mourn his passing.

A short time before he died he told his daughter he could not stay here longer, that he had to die, and sung "I'm going home to die
no more." A few minutes before death came he said "Glory to God
I am right."

He has only paid the debt we all must pay and let's hope that in that great beyond, where no parting comes, we can all be reunited
again.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Eliza Anderson and the remains were laid to rest in the Morrow s Chapel cemetery on Monday April 20.
