STREATOR — Grace M. McGurk, 92, of Streator, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.
A visitation for Grace McGurk will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, at Elias Funeral Home in Streator. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael the Archangel Parish; cremation rites will be accorded after the services; burial will be at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be her sons Pat, Mick and Tom McGurk, grandchildren Nick McGurk, James McGurk and Cali Rodgers. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandchildren Maggie McGurk, Sean McGurk, Ashlyn Rodgers and Bridget McGurk.
Born Nov. 7, 1924, in Streator, she was the daughter of Andrew and Mary (Martin) McGurk. She married Bernard McGurk June 5, 1946; he passed away June 10, 1994.
She is survived by her sons Patrick (Linda) McGurk, of Streator, Michael McGurk, of Streator and Thomas McGurk, of Montreal, Canada; grandchildren Nick (Kathleen) McGurk, Sheila (Cory) Rodgers and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, and 11 siblings.
Grace was a graduate of Streator Township High School. She was a former member of Immaculate Conception Church. She worked at Sunstar Foods as a lab tech for several years. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and loved to cook and pass on her Slovak recipes to her family. She had a good run!!!
