Elden M. Leischner, age 84, a Valders area resident, passed away Thursday evening, May 25, 2017 at his residence. He was born June 30, 1932 in Elgin, North Dakota, son of the late Emil and Mary (Hintz) Leischner. Elden attended Elgin High School, graduating with the Class of 1949. He served in the United States Air Force from 1956 until 1960. On July 20, 1965, Elden married the former Dorothy Remaker in Laverne, Minnesota. She preceded him in death on October 8, 2016. He was employed with Schneider Transport for over 30 years, retiring in 1991. Elden was a member of American Legion Post 28. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Elden lived to entertain, especially while grilling out. He was a gentle soul who touched many hearts.Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law: Paul Leischner, Manitowoc, and Lee & Jody Leischner, Valders; and two grandchildren: Sammi Leischner and Mark Leischner. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was further preceded in death by his brother: Melvin Leischner and his sister: Lorna Moore. Cremation has occurred at the All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, June 3, 2017 at the Christianson and Deja Funeral Home, 202 Liberty Street, Valders. Officiating at the service will be Deacon Mike Reel. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88 following the service.
