Fanny Cohen Goldstein, 89, a former south side merchant, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, in St. Vincent Hospital. Services were Wednesday, Oct. 28, in Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Meridian Hills Mortuary.

Mrs. Goldstein was the owner of Goldstein's Market at Ray and South Illinois streets from 1946 to 1952. She worked for Steinkeller's Drug Store for three years and was a sales clerk for Betty Gay's dress shop for five years. Mrs. Goldstein was the first supervisor of the kosher kitchen in Hooverwood in 1962. She was a member of Congregation B'nai Torah Sisterhood, Women's American ORT, Hooverwood Guild and Golden Age Group.

Mrs. Goldstein was born in Odessa, Russia, and lived in Indianapolis for 70 years. She was the widow of Sam Goldstein.

Survivors include her daughters, Mildred Alboher, Lea Frankovitz and Serna Sapper; sisters, Ethel Migdoll and Ann Sofnas, 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
