PLATTSBURGH -- Robert F. Galbraith, 80, of Melody Lane, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Pulaski on Aug. 18, 1925, son of Ralph and Olive (Galer) Galbraith.

Robert was a graduate of Pulaski Academy and Central School in 1943. Bob continued his education by participating in many educational courses which supported his career. Bob joined General Telephone Company in 1946 as a Groundman in Adams, N.Y., subsequently he served as lineman, installer, repairman and combinationman in Adams, Long Lake, Old Forge and Pulaski, before being promoted to Plant Supervisor in Johnstown in 1968. In 1971 he was named Glove District Installation and Maintenance Supervisor. He retired on May 1, 1976, with 30 years, then as District Service Facilities Supervisor. He returned to telephone work in 1977, moving to Keeseville and taking a position with AuSable Valley Telephone Company, completing 11 years there. He retired in 1988 as Plant Superintendent. Bob enjoyed his family, golf, baseball and winters in Florida. He was a member of the Plattsburgh United Methodist Church.

Robert is survived by his wife, Joan, of Plattsburgh; a daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Jefferson Dukette of Plattsburgh; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Sandra Galbraith of Fairbanks, Alaska, William and Rachel Galbraith of Fairbanks, Alaska, Bradford and Yui Galbraith of Ballston Spa; two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Emily Dukette of Plattsburgh; one grandson and his wife, David and Cathy Galbraith of Oconomowoc, Wisc.; two great-granddaughters, Kelsey and Carly Galbraith of Oconomowoc, Wisc.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Arlene and Richard Sypek of Peru, George Toth and Victor Koenig of Mexico, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

Bob was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Howard, Bradford and Lawrence; six sisters, Ethel May, Verda, Helen, Erma, Dorothy Ann and Barbara.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at 10 a.m. from the United Methodist Church in Plattsburgh with the Rev. Clark Callender, pastor, officiating. Burial will be later in the year in Pulaski Cemetery.

Donations in Bob's memory may be made to Ball Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Plattsburgh United Methodist Church or a charity of one's choice.
