He died before 2 January 1808. According to a document found in his Avoyelles Parish succession file, an application for Letters of Administration was filed on that date by Pierre Couvillion, his son. There is also another document dated 29 December 1808 regarding his inventory.
His burial record has not been found but he was likely buried at Notre Dame du Mont Carmel, Hydropolis (now St. Paul's Catholic Church in Mansura).
