Virginia, 87, of Saranac, passed away on May 31, 2017 after a brief illness. Virginia was born to Howard and Mabel (Armour) Poff.

Virginia grew up in Lake Odessa where she enjoyed her family’s horses and being highly active in the community. In her younger days, she enjoyed spending time at the cottage on Horsehead Lake with her parents and sisters.

Virginia was very proud of her children, loved shopping, listening Frank Sinatra and an avid reader. She loved anything Irish and treasured her trips to Ireland. Virginia will be dearly missed by her six children; Howard (Jan) Courtnay, Deb Courtnay, Greg (Kim) Courtnay, Jeff Courtnay, Barry (Kelly) Courtnay and MaryAnn (Rick) Tyczynski, grandchildren Kevin (Mindy) Courtnay, Bryan (Sarah) Courtnay, Joe (Nadine) Courtnay, Fawn (John) Witte, Erin (Jake) Catalano, Andy (Bethany) Courtnay, David Courtnay, Thomas Courtnay, Adam Courtnay, Nicole (Cliff) Tang and Ryan Tyczynski, great-grandchildren Gabriel, Addison, Max, Alex, Jack, Claire, Lia, Adrienne, Scarlett and Kensington, sisters Mary Firth, Margaret (Pat) Maurer and Sylvia Williams.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were held on June 5, 2017 at Koops Funeral Chapel with burial at Lakeside Cemetery immediately following.

Memorials can be given to Special Olympics Michigan Chapter.
