Major Thomas L. Squyers 84, of Milan, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007, in Milan.

He was born on May 7, 1922, in Polar, Texas. He served as pilot and instructor of jet mechanics in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years and retired with the rank of Major. He served in World War II and flew jets from 1953-1961.

Major Squyers is survived by his wife Lola Squyres of Milan; his children Thomas Squyers Jr. and wife Ila Squyres, Jr. of Dallas, Texas, Gerald Lee Squyers and wife Sharon of Corpus Christi, Texas, Cynthia Ann Price and husband Martin of Houston, Texas, and Rebecca Lynn Wojcteshowski and husband Arthur of Murray, Ky.; his step-sons Gary Pearson and wife Amy of San Rafael and Freeman Lusk wife Mary Ann of Milan; his step-daughter Phyllis Reese of Las Cruces; 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents William Tommy Lee Squyres and Velma Squyres; his brother Weldon Squyres and his sister Wanda Squyres.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Compassion Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Milan with Pastor Dale Thatcher officiating. Burial with military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3221 will follow at Grants Memorial Park.

Compassion Mortuary of Grants is in charge of arrangements.
