Alton was born on September 16, 1945 in Hillman, Michigan, the son of Percy and Lucina (Barnes) Hawley. He proudly served in the United States Navy until his honorable discharge. Alton worked for GM as a lineman for many years before his retirement. He and Dawn Dominy were united in marriage on August 7, 1965 in Flint. Alton was a member of the Masonic Temple Welfare Lodge of Genesee, the Kishma Grotto, the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Durand and past president, the Order of the Eastern Star of Bancroft and past patron, the Shiawasee Dog and Gun Club, the Durand Moose Lodge and past president, and the Durand AM Vets Post 2273. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and fishing, hunting, playing the guitar, playing in his band and singing karaoke.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dawn Hawley; 2 daughters, Yvonne (Shawn) French and Stacy Hawley and her significant other, William Chadwell; 4 grandchildren, Ashton French, Lantz Hawley, Serenity Hawley and Liam Chadwell; and 2 great-grandchildren, Kaedence French and Keagan French. Alton was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Lucina Hawley; and 2 brothers and 3 sisters, Edward Hawley, Dora Norris, Donald Hawley, Eleanor Meyers and Sylvia Cooper.
