Roy Carlton Hackathorn 69, of 65 Melody Lane Marietta, OH, died at 3:23 P.M. on Thursday November 1, 2007. He was born September 18, 1938, at St. Marys, WV, to the late Christopher and Josephine Johnson Hackathorn.

He attended St. Marys High School and at age 17 he joined the U.S. Air Force until 1967. He was a member of the National Guard until he retired in 1999. Roy was a pilot with the Civil Air Patrol and a member of American Legion Post #64 and V.F.W. Post #5108. He was a truck driver for A.B.F. Trucking ubtil his health failed.

He is survived by his wife of twenty years Gaynell Basham Hackathorn, three daughters Penny Christenson and Tami Fisher both of Colorado. Melissa Sattes of Charleston, WV, and one son Tim Hackathorn of Colorado. Roy has four step-children Rick Mackey, Todd Mackey, Mark Mackey (Barbara) and Jetta Westbrook. There are several grandchildren and great grandchildren and step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. He has one brother Chris Hackathorn (Martha) of St. Marys, WV, one sister Bessie Maston (Paul) of Schultz, WV, and a half sister Louella Wiseman of Georgia.

Preceded in death by parents, first wife Gail Eileen Griffin Hackathorn 6/8/1987, and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Monday November 5, 2007, at 1:00 P.M. at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel 1021 Pike Street with Pastor Steve Thibault officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Township Cemetery.
