She was the second wife of Thomas Floyd Allred. He was a widower with 10 children. They married May 2, 1897.
A letter written by Malissa, dated March 31, 1924, said "I have been feeling tough all winter, have had such colds seems like when I begin to get over one, I take fresh cold and sneeze and cough and hurt in my left side". She died 5 1/2 months after writing this letter.
