Alva – Services for Doris Miller McCreight, 73, will be at 10 AM Tuesday in the Alva First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. R. Bruce Brigden officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa.

She died Sunday at a local hospital. McCreight was born January 28, 1916, in Fairview, where she attended the first grade. The family moved to Clinton, where she graduated from high school with the class of 1933. She graduated from the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha in 1937.

McCreight started her teaching career at Bristow. During World War I I, she worked for the U. S. Army as a civilian at several bases. In 1944, she returned to teach at Clinton High School. In 1948, McCreight received her Masters degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1948. After that, she worked at Oklahoma City University's Office of Personnel. In 1955, she returned to OU, as the assistant director of women's affairs and did post – masters studies.

She married John C. McCreight on August 6, 1958, at Clinton. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Medford. In 1959, they went to Bixby, where she was a high school counselor and in 1969, they came to Alva and in 1970, she served as a psychologist at the Enid State School for Boys in Helena.

In 1981, she retired.

McCreight was a member of the Alva First Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women's Association; past – president of Chapter C. PEO, the Alva Golf and Country Club, and various educational and psychological associations.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.

Survivors include her husband. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundations heart or diabetes divisions.

The body will lie in state at Wharton Funeral Home until the funeral. The casket will be closed at the church.
