George W. Adams died at his residence, No. 2716 Calumet avenue, Wednesday, Feb. 18. He was born Nov. 8, 1823, in Hopkins [ sic ] [note: should be Hopkinton..rhw], Mass. Mr. Adams was one of the early settlers of Chicago and until the fire was associated with his three brothers, Benjamin, John Q., and G[ustavus] P., in the flour milling business on North Water street. After the fire he became a member of the Board of Trade and continued so until failing health compelled him to resign. He was a member of Plymouth Church and one of its most earnest supporters. He leaves a widow and two daughters.
