Kent Alan Von Lanken, 58, died Sunday, May 14, 2017, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center following a short hospitalization.

Plans for a memorial service at St. John’s in Hopkinsville are incomplete at this time.

Burial will take place in Zion Christian Church Cemetery in rural Illinois near Atwood.

Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home of Atwood is making the final arrangements.

A native of Urbana, Ill. and raised in Hopkinsville, the son of Melba and the late George Von Lanken. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 123 at St John’s Methodist Church. He graduated from Hopkinsville High School and the University of Kentucky. He worked at the University of Kentucky in Regulatory Services in the College of Agriculture. He was certified as both a Registered Seed Technologist and a Commercial Seed Technologist. He served as a Board Member for the Association of Official Seed Analysts.

He was preceded in death by one brother, and his father died four days after Kent’s death.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his sister, Carol, Lexington; and his brother, Chris, Hopkinsville.
