Born to James Evander 'Jake' Williams and Odessa Lee 'Dess' Goodwin Williams. Married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Alfred Shipley, an 82nd Airborne soldier from Texas who was stationed at Ft. Bragg in her senior year (spring of 1957) at Rohanen High School. Tragically, he died on their wedding trip that same July 4th. The following Jan. 1st, she had his only son. Later married Roy Lavern Grooms (1965) and had three children by him. Married Billy Garrett Martin in mid-80s. Upon her death, she had three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, and was survived by them as well as her mother, two sisters, and her four children plus a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
