Bangor--Charles W. McCoy, age 82, of Bangor, passed away Sunday, Feb 18, 2007, at his home.
The family will meet friends from 5 to 8 pm Thursday at the Bangor Chapel, D.L. Millier Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 11 am Friday at the Lawrence Bible Church, with Pastor Don Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington Hill Cemetery, Bangor. Charles was born July 7, 1924, in Hartford Twp., the son of Bryan and Lula M.(Vernon) McCoy, and had lived in the area all of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and the Phillippine Liberation.
On Aug. 22, 1953, he married Angeline "Gena" Sandona in Bangor, and she preceded him in death On Oct 8, 1997. Charles was a lifelong farmer and worked for the Van Buren Road Commission for 33 years, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and most of all spending time with his family, who will deeply miss him.
Surviving are his best friend and companion, his dog,Woody; three children, Rosalie Picchiarelli of Bangor, Ronald(Anna)McCoy of Bangor, Rhonda(Allen) Wendzel of Bangor; eight grandchildren, Carol Picchiarelli, Karen(Tom)McColl, Dustin Denney(who shares grandpa's birthday), Matthew McCoy, Stephanie McCoy, Nena Wendzel, Stacy Wendzel; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Bryan McCoy Jr. of Coloma; one sister, Vera Brenner of Coloma; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Keith and L.T. McCoy.
