Margaret and Louise had no children, but between the rest of the ten they gave Pell and Mary FORTY-ONE grandchildren
James met his future wife Harriet "Hattie" Porter* (1890-1989) while they were both working in a hotel on Roger's Rock in Lake George, NY. James was a porter and Hattie a pastery chef.
They married Nov. 11, 1912 in Toconderoga. It was often said that it was the celebration of the end of one war and the beginning of another. James and Hattie had six children: James (1913-2008), Millard* (1915-1967), Lawrence (1916-1985), Carl (1917-1986), Mary (1920-1990) and Shirley (1924-1999).
The family relocated from Toconderoga to Schenectady in the early 1940s. James' last job working for a locomotive company in Schenectady, NY. Grandpa died in a nursing home across the road from the catering hall where he and Grandma celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary 11 years earlier.
