SANDWICH - After a courageous battle with cancer, Elizabeth Anne Warren passed peacefully from this life on May 16, 2014 at the Mary McCarthy Center, with her family by her side.

Daughter of Frank and Olive Pride Antonioli, Betsy, as she was known to all, grew up in Sherborn, and graduated from Framingham High School in 1958. She taught swimming at Farm Pond in Sherborn, where she met and later married the love of her life, Roger D. Warren, known affectionately to many Barnstable High School graduates as "Doc" Warren.

After living briefly in Nashua, N.H., she and Roger moved to the Cape in 1963 to begin a long and fruitful life together. They had two daughters, Laurie and Susan, both graduates of Barnstable High School. She lived a whirlwind life, raising her children, being a Barnstable Town Meeting Member for 13 years, and conducting an active real estate brokerage business in Sandwich known as Eagle Associates with her partner, Frank Murphy.

Betsy was named Realtor of the Year by her fellow brokers at Cape Cod & Island Board of Realtors and also served as the board's president. She actively participated in many charitable community organizations such as the Salvation Army "Dress a Live Doll" campaign, Noah Homeless Shelter, Housing Assistance Corporation, Sandwich Food Pantry, Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition, and Trust for Epilepsy Research. She was a driving force behind passage of the Cape Cod Land Bank Act, which gave towns across the Cape the resources to purchase and set aside open space for the enjoyment of the public.

Betsy chaired the Board of Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod (now Hope Health) during the three years in which the organization raised $3 million to build the McCarthy Care Center. For the last 10 years, she co-chaired Hospice's annual Auction by the Sea, raising over $2 million for the organization. In 2009, the Planned Giving Council of Cape Cod presented Betsy with its Outstanding Volunteer Award for her leadership at Hospice and Palliative Care of Cape Cod and in the creation of the Cape Cod Land Bank.

Betsy was predeceased by her daughter, Laurie A. Warren. She leaves her beloved husband, Roger D. Warren; her daughter, Susan McKenna; son-in-law, Edward; and their three children, Matthew, Katie and Caroline; her son-in-law, Bernard Kilroy; and grandchildren: Olivia, Grace and Tallulah Kilroy. She is also survived by her twin sister, Margaret Powicki, and her brother, Frank Antonioli, and his wife, Dorothy; several nieces and nephews; as well as many family members in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, the birthplace of her mother.

Her family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. David C. Fisher; Dana Farber Cancer Institute; Dr. Frank Basile and his entire team at Cape Cod Healthcare; family friend, Dr. Nathan Rudman; the wonderful and compassionate Dr. Dan Arnold; Emerald Physicians, Marilyn Hannus and her team at Privatus Care; and the entire staff at the McCarthy Care Center.

Betsy will be remembered for her warm, generous spirit, incredible energy and positive outlook. A wonderful life too soon ended.

A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Barnstable on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 3 p.m., with a reception to follow at the church. Her final resting place will be in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, near her family's summer home and overlooking the Bras D'Or Lakes, in which she and her twin sister, Margo, swam so many summers long ago.

As tribute to Betsy, her daughter, Susan, and granddaughter, Grace, are running the Falmouth Road Race as part of the Dana Farber team. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to www.rundanafarber.org/falmouth2014/susanmckenna; or the McCarthy Care Center c/o Hope Health, 765 Attucks Way, Hyannis, MA 02601.
