Bruce Lamar Brown Jr., age 22, of Hernando, Mississippi, formerly of Hobart, IN, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2017. Bruce is survived by his parents: Angela and Bruce Brown Sr. of Hobart, IN; two brothers: Darius White and Keylian Brown; grandmothers: Dorothy Boyd and Dorothy Steele; aunts: Annette Holmes and Kimberly (Jennifer Jones) Steele; a host of other great-aunts and uncles, cousins and friends; and girlfriend: Abbigail Hollis. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers: William Steele and Sammie Boyd; and uncle: Lashaun Brown. Bruce was a graduate of Merrillville High School Class of 2012 where he participated in football, golf, basketball, and baseball. He was a volunteer coach for Pop Warner Football, as well as Challenger (special needs), basketball and baseball. He then attended Manchester University where he played football and also attended Indiana State University. Bruce enjoyed cooking and was currently working in the restaurant industry. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave./South St., Crown Point, IN 46307 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre in Crown Point at 10:00 AM with Mark Vines officiating. Interment to follow at Washington Memorial Gardens in Homewood, IL.
