Mina Anne Welker passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 29, 2017 Her life will be remembered for her kind gentleness, sense of humor, artistic creativity, and compassion. Mina is survived by her loving children, Leslie Ann Reinke (husband Jon Reinke) and Richard P. Welker (wife Lee Ann Crocker). She was a loving and devoted grandmother to David and Eric Reinke and Fiona Welker. Mina is also survived by her sister Lorraine Bartlett and brother Roger Appeldorn (wife Marilyn), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband Richard (Dick) E. Welker. Mina was born near Pipestone, Minnesota, one of six children of J.Henry and Vena Appeldorn. She grew up on a farm, graduated from Mankato State Teachers' College and later San Francisco State University. She was teaching sixth grade in Minnesota when she met Dick Welker. They were married in Pipestone and lived in Minnesota and Montana before moving to California in 1956. One of the great joys of her life was being a first grade teacher in the San Bruno Park Elementary School District for over 20 years. She was a proud member of Delta Kappa Gamma, California Retired Teachers' Association, and Broadmoor Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed her many beloved friends.

In retirement Mina received great pleasure playing piano for Spirit Care Convalescent Ministries at convalescent homes throughout the area. She travelled extensively throughout America with Dick and her family, visiting relatives in Colorado and Minnesota and every possible sight along the way and beyond.

Having lived 94 years, she often would say, "That's old enough!" We often marvel at all that happened during Mina's long and wonderful life. She grey up on a farm that didn't have electricity or running water early in her life, but in later years she enjoyed 'Face Timing" with her grandchildren!

Friends and family are invited to attend Memorial Services at Broadmoor Presbyterian Church, 377 - 87th St. Daly City, CA 94015, at 2:00 PM, on Thursday, May 25, 2017. Donations may be made to Broadmoor Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice.
