JOHN D ARFMANN
John D Arfmann of Rutherford NJ died in East Orange Veterans Hospital July 30 following a long illness.
A resident of New Jersey for 40 years, he was born December 26, 1886 in New York, the son of Diedrich and Lena Jacobs Arfmann. He was married to the former Rachael Gleason who died in 1953. A daughter Jane of Rutherford survives. The Arfmann family frequently visited here.
Mr Arfmann was a member of F&AM Commonwealth Lodge of Brooklyn; former treasurer of the Rutherford Community Chest; member of the American Legion Post in Rutherford and a member of the Men's Club of the Presbyterian Church there. He was a veteran of WWI.
The funeral service was August 2 at 8 pm in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church, Rutherford, with the Rev Benjamin Adams officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery here Wednesday following a service at the grave by the Rev Peter Braun of the Amagansett Presbyterian Church.
