Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the service time. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery.
Harold was born on November 5, 1933 in Tolono, the son of Frank and Lucille (Crouse) Oakley. He married Nellie Faye McGregor in 1952 and she preceded him in death in 1974. He then married Iva Rosemary Morrison on November 26, 1986.
Surviving is wife Rosemary, children Joyce Faye, Sheila Ann and Dawn Nicole; step-children Lynda Marie and Eric Wayne; special nephew & niece, Mike (Tammy) Oakley; 6 grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; sisters Evelyn (Dean) Claxon of West Frankfort, IL, Mary (Richard) Harford of Mattoon; brother Donnie (Florence) Oakley of Charleston; brother-in-law Harold Marts of Charleston & Howard Warner of Martinsville; sister-in-law Iris Oakley of Avon, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Gerald (Wilma) Oakley, brothers Paul (Carolyn) Oakley and Glen Oakley; sisters Jane Oakley, Jean (Max) Mills, Norma Marts, Betty Warner.
Harold was a builder by trade and worked at Reasor Corp. in Charleston for many years. He loved gospel music and believed that a good Christian man always “returned thanks” at the table. He loved mowing the lawn, gardening, tending to his flowers and bushes and collecting toy tractors. He was a member of the Willis Chapel Church of God in Martinsville but attended the New Hope Christian Church since living in Greenup.
