Dorothy Y. Burks, 84, passed away Friday, November 30, 2007.She was born in Cleveland, Oklahoma on October 3, 1923 to Charles York and Margaret Gardner.

She graduated from high school and from the Baptist Bible College with a degree in business education. She formerly lived in Jerome, Idaho; Springfield, Missouri; Vail, Colorado before moving to Loveland/Ft. Collins, Colorado.

She married Richard Burks on January 10, 1942 in Pierce County, Washington. He passed away on January 12, 1988.

She married Earl Bird on March 11, 1999 in Beaver Creek, Colorado.

She and her husband farmed in Jerome, Idaho. She was a professor of business at the Baptist Bible College for 15 years. She worked as an administrative assistant in Vail for a real estate company. She was an officer on the American Red Cross Board, the Vail Valley Medical Center Volunteer Corp., volunteering over 6000 hours. She was a very active member of the Vail Valley Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed singing and community functions and church activities. She enjoyed needle point and cooking.

She is survived by her son, Dan Burks and wife Cindy of Fairfield, Iowa; daughter, Mary Brown and husband Jerry of Loveland, Colorado; sister Dolores Crow of Nampa, Idaho; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 3 sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Vail Valley Medical Center Volunteer Corps in care of Allnutt Funeral Service 2100 N. Lincoln Ave. Loveland, CO 80538.

A memorial service will be held Friday, December 7, 2007 1:00 PM at Allnutt Hunter Chapel. Graveside Inurnment will be held at a later date in Jerome, Idaho.
