Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 15, at Freese Funeral Home, Tolono, with the Rev. Hank Sanford officiating. Burial will be in Bailey Memorial Cemetery, Tolono. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Abeln was born on Oct. 15, 1932, at Tolono, a daughter to George R. and Rachael L. Birks Borders.
Surviving are three children, Rachael (Jim) Hobbs of Edinberg, Ill., Paula (Bernie) Eisenmenger of Pesotum and Charles (Alison) Abeln of Champaign; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, George Allen Borders, and her parents.
She was a member of First Christian Church of Champaign.
She was an LPN at Burnham City Hospital, Champaign, and also taught at Kiddie Kountry Preschool.
Memorials may be made to Macular Degeneration Research, American Heart Association or DSC (Developmental Services Center).
