Mosinee - Services were in Rice Lake Tuesday for Dr. Joseph Abboud, 62, 1101 Sundance Dr., formerly of Rice Lake, who died Saturday at Wausau Hospital Center.

He was born in Cambridge, Mass., and Married Barbara Donaldson June 22, 1946 in Eau Claire. He graduated from Eau Claire State Teacher's College in 1948 and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1952. He the moved to Rice Lake where he was a staff optometrist with the Rice Lake Clinic from 1953 to 1974. From 1975 until June 1980 he was in private practice in Rice Lake. He then became chief optometrist for Shopko Optical in Schofield.

He was a Marine veteran of World War 11. He served two terms as vice president of the Wisconsin Optometric Association, and was secretary of the group's legislative committee and peer review committee from1962 to 1971. He voted Outstanding Local President by the Wisconsin Jaycees in 1957. He was past president of the Rice Lake Lions.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Jeffrey, Eau Claire; two brothers, Kevin, Newton, Mass., Donald, Arlington, Mass.; two sisters, Ruth Horgan, Marion Welch, both of Arlington, Mass.; and a grandson.

Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Rice Lake.
