Delores M. Scheunemann, age 85, a resident of the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc, a loving wife and mother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 13, 2016. Born March 20, 1932 one of three children to Irene and Elmer Race. She lived in and around the West Bend area most of her life….first working on the family farm then finding her love…Norman E. Scheunemann and marrying on Oct 6, 1951Delores was a kind and gentle person with a passion for sewing and cooking and most of all listening to her polka music. Upon her retirement from the JC Penney Co Delores and Norman took many trips to Phoenix, Arizona to visit the oldest daughter Joan. Six years ago she and Norm moved to Manitowoc, WI to be closer to their youngest daughter June and her husband Mike Bernsdorf. She loved going to June's farm and playing with the cats and horses.The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the gals at the Manitowoc Health Care Center on the Reflections Wing where Delores resided the last 2 years. Their compassion helped the family so much in understanding Alzheimer's and how it affects a loved one. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Norman and her brother Kenneth Race. Leaving behind her daughters , Joan Scheunemann of Phoenix, Az. And June Scheunemann and husband Mike Bernsdorf Reedsville, WI and her sister Marlene of Phoenix Az. along with many family and friends. She requested no funeral or service and will be laid to rest at West Bend Cemetery -Washington County Memorial Park.
