Aged 83, of Halifax (Clayton Park), Nova Scotia, Canada.

Husband of Litsa Bravakis. Mr. Bravakis was born in Sykea, Greece and immigrated to Canada in 1956. A well known and well loved member of Halifax's Greek and business communities, he was for many years the owner of Quinpool Shoe Repair, in the Quinpool Road. After selling the shop and retiring, he continued to enjoy stopping by and helping the new owners. His hobbies included reading, fishing and gardening, and he is remembered by friends for his 'great ability to tell a story'. He was married to Litsa for 45 years and was caregiver to her after her stroke.

Mr. Bravakis was predeceased by his three brothers, George, Theodore, and Anastasios, and is survived by his two sisters, Maria and Helene, and many nieces and nephews. He was an active member of Saint George's Greek Orthodox Church (Halifax) and will be sadly missed by many friends there.

Mr. Bravakis lost his life when a speeding, out-of-control SUV crossed several lanes of traffic and struck him whilst he was walking on the sidewalk. Charges are pending against the driver of the vehicle.

A full obituary may be found in the Halifax Chronicle Herald, 24 February 2007, page B6.
