Robert (Bob) Eugene Bauman, 85, lifelong resident of Milton, died peacefully at Agrace Hospice and Palliative Care, Janesville, on Thursday, June 15, 2017. He was born in Janesville on February 1, 1932, the eldest of three children born to Karl and Edna (Steggeman) Bauman. Robert graduated from Milton Union High School in 1950. Following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served honorably from 1950-1954. While recovering from a back injury at Mercy Hospital, he met Patricia (Pat) Stapleton, who worked there as a nurse’s aide. They married on October 29, 1955. She died on May 9, 2014. He spent over 30 years working the parts counter at Dickhoff Chevrolet, McGuire Chevrolet and finally retiring from Fagan Chevrolet in 1995. He was also a member of the American Legion for over 50 years. Robert was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed his annual antelope and mule deer hunting trips to Wyoming as well as trips to his hunting cabin in Park Falls. He also loved gardening and feeding the birds. He was very talented as a woodworker. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and was also a big football and baseball fan, tuning in to watch the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers each week, as well as the Milwaukee Brewers. He also loved the companionship of his two feline ladies, Tubbs and Squeak, whom provided great comfort after Pat died. Robert is survived by his three children, Deb (Dan) Clark, Janesville; Theresa, Cape Coral, FL; and Karl (Tracy), Janesville; three grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and one great, great grandson, one sister, Mary Ann (Calvin) Mathews, Fort Atkinson, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat; parents, Karl and Edna Bauman; and a brother, Charles Bauman. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 20 at 2 pm at the Milton Cemetery. Robert was stubborn and fought to beat cancer, not once but twice, but in the end, the residual effects of the cancer treatment were too much to bear. He elected to catch the train reuniting him with Pat and together they will live in eternal bliss. Albrecht Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Milton.
