Thomas J. Kunze age 61 of Valley City, North Dakota died Monday February 5, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Valley City.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday February 10, 2007 in St. Catherine Catholic Church in Valley City. A rosary service followed by a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Friday evening in the Lerud-Johnson-Schuldt Funeral Home in Valley City. Interment will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery in Valley City in the spring.
Thomas John Kunze was born July 11, 1945 in Valley City, North Dakota the son of Arnold and Margaret (Weber) Kunze. Tom attended school at St. Catherine's School in Valley City and graduated from St. Catherine's High School. After high school graduation Tom served with the North Dakota National Guard for six years.
Tom married Marlys Schumaker on September 29, 1973 in Valley City. After serving in The National Guard Tom went into farming with his brother Allen and formed Kunze Brothers Farm. He retired from farming in 1998. In the same year Tom started his own trucking company.
Tom was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Valley City. Tom was also a member of The Valley City Eagles Club and a lifetime member of The Amvets Club. Tom enjoyed and looked forward to small family trips to The Twin Cities and socializing with friends at The Valley City Eagles Club.
Tom is survived by his wife Marlys of Valley City, two daughters Annette (Jon) Hinrichs, Hawley, Minnesota and Tonya Kunze, Minneapolis, Minnesota, one sister Sharon (Dr. Robert) Zarrett, Bemidji, Minnesota, two brothers Allen (Marilyn) Kunze, Oriska, North Dakota and Robert (Corrine) Kunze, Hillsboro, North Dakota, three grandsons, Alec, Riley and Keifer Hinrichs of Hawley, Minnesota and many nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by one brother Paul and his parents.
