PORT HURON — Carlin DeLand, 66, of 1923 Twenty-fifth St., died Sunday in Mercy Hospital after a long illness.

Mr. DeLand was born March 21, 1910, in Memphis, and lived in the area all his life. He married Jean Bertrand on Nov. 21, 1970, in Port Huron. He was employed by the St. Clair County Road Commission as a truck driver for 33 years.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Charles H. DeLand and William Franklin DeLand Sr.; a daughter, Dorothy M. Robbins, Apopka, Fla.: two brothers, Alvin DeLand and Theodore DeLand, both of Smiths Creek; four sisters, Mrs. Nina Gillis, Algonac, Mrs. Alberta Evans, Emmett, Mrs. Eva McWain and Mrs. Ruth Ellery, both of St. Clair; one stepson, Raymond Strong, Jeddo; 17 grand-children, 13 great-grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Arthur Smith Funeral Home — South Chapel. The Rev. Joseph H. Ablett of the Marysville United Methodist church will officiate. Remains are in the funeral home. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Caswell Cemetery.
