Funeral rites for John S. Smith, 70, Alexis, who died Friday, will be held Monday at 3 p.m. in the First and Puckett Funeral Home, where friends may call Sunday afternoon and evening. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
A retired barber, Mr. Smith was born May 31, 1888, in Gilmore City, Iowa, and lived in Alexis a year. He resided most of his life in Minnesota.
He was married to Anna Flentje at Round Lake, Minn., Feb. 16, 1914.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Marlyn and John Smith, of California; four daughters, Mrs. Dan (Joyce) Koturov, Galesburg, Mrs. Richard (Myrna) Bernard, Chicago, Mrs. Neil (Jane) McMillin, Danville, Mrs. Aubrey (Nancy) Johnson, Japan, and 11 grandchildren.
