Charlie Whit Skipper was born September 7, 1943 in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Whit Mill Skipper and Valeria Mills Skipper. Charlie was a graduate of Bainbridge High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Orion Lodge #8 F & AM. He was a member of Beulah Thomas Baptist Church. Charlie retired from Decatur County Schools with 30+ years of service and later worked as a rural mail carrier for the USPS.

Charlie, affectionately known as “Skipper”, was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed horseback riding, camping, fishing and riding four wheelers. Charlie was an avid reader and a history buff; he could tell you most anything about the Civil War period. Charlie studied genealogy and, with his dry sense of humor, suggested you never knew what you might uncover if you dug around long enough. No one could doubt the love Charlie had for his family and his dogs if they talked with him for any length of time.

Survivors include his children, Susan Skipper, Dionna Hacker and her husband, Woody, Robin Skipper Tate and her husband, Terry Duane, and John Whit Skipper, all of Bainbridge, and Joshua Taylor Skipper and his wife, Tanya, of Dothan; his sister, Mary Jane Duke; and his grandchildren, Ryan, Michael, Chelsea, Leah Danielle, Dane, David, Dylan, Kacee, Derry, Kerri Ann, Caleb Whit, Matthew, Taylor and Morgan. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Deborah “Debbie” Duke Skipper.
