Per his death certificate found on Ancestry.com: he was a son of William Bailey Vick and Martha Phillips, both born in North Carolina. He was married at the time of his death but his spouse is not named. He was a textile worker in a cotton mill. He died at 739 7th St. in the Olympia section of Columbia. The informant was Mrs. Lucy Vick. Note: the DOB given in the book referenced below is 09 May 1876.

He can be found on the 1880 US Census for Swift Creek, Edgecombe, NC at age 5, enumerated as Tommie, living with W. B. Vick, 54, Martha, 40, Joanna, 18, William B., 16, Fred, 9, and Loulu, 7. He was born in North Carolina as were both parents.
